Today, I'm a mother of a baby boy. Also, it'll be my 11th year of working as a volunteer with seriously ill children.
Like many young parents, after our child was born, we've been waiting for the results of his genetic tests. Being a volunteer, I knew there were no guarantees and was wondering what my reaction would be "if they find anything". We've been lucky to find out that our baby boy is healthy. However, this year some of the families will be told, "Your child is sick with cystic fibrosis." And it will feel like the sky is falling down because it's a serious, incurable disease. I want to uplift these families by providing them with their very first aid, to reassure them this is something they can live with.
